AMA Secretary General
Anne Trimmer was appointed Secretary General of the Australian Medical Association (AMA) in August 2013. Ms Trimmer was previously the Chief Executive Officer of the Medical Technology Association of Australia (MTAA). Prior to joining the MTAA, Ms Trimmer had an extensive career in the legal profession including several periods as a partner in major commercial law firms. Ms Trimmer has held several leadership positions in professional and educational bodies, including serving as President of the Law Council of Australia, Deputy Chancellor of the University of Canberra, and Chair of the Australian Government’s Advisory Council on Intellectual Property. Ms Trimmer has been a director of Research Australia and Plan International Australia. In 2003, she was awarded a Centenary Medal for services to law and society. Ms Trimmer is a graduate of the Australian National University with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws.
