Steve Lennon is an accomplished company director, and business leader with a career spanning strategy, digital transformation, governance, and innovation across global markets. As Chair of AMPCo, Steve brings more than 30 years of senior executive and board-level experience in organisations including GHD, Arup, Cognizant, Nous Group, Imagination, Fujitsu, and PwC.
A Chartered Accountant by training and former investment banker, Steve combines sharp commercial acumen with deep digital expertise. He has led and advised businesses across infrastructure, technology, healthcare, government, and financial services—guiding platform development, data asset commercialisation, IP lifecycle management, and revenue diversification strategies.
Steve has founded and invested in digital ventures and advised across the full spectrum of B2B growth strategy—covering market entry, customer value propositions, product development, branding, and sales performance. He brings a practical understanding of risk management, having served on audit and risk committees and advised on strategic, operational, financial and reputational risks.
Board colleagues and clients value Steve’s ability to align diverse stakeholders, foster collaborative culture, and turn complex challenges into clear, actionable outcomes. He is a Graduate of the AICD, a Senior Member and Certified Professional of the Australian Computer Society, a Board Member for Regional Development Australia Sydney, and part of the NSW Prequalification Scheme for Audit & Risk Committees.
As Chair of AMPCo, Steve is focused on strengthening AMPCo’s impact in medical publishing and data, driving innovation and financial sustainability, and advancing its mission as the commercial arm of the AMA.
Ms Petra Buchanan is the Acting Chair of the Board of AMPCo. Ms Buchanan is a business leader with a history of Chief Executive and C-Suite roles across commercial and not-for-profit sectors in Australia and internationally. Some of her roles include former Chief Executive Officer of the McGrath Foundation, and CEO of industry body ASTRA, co-founder of digital start-up TuShare and an executive with Unisys in Asia Pacific and the Discovery Channel internationally. Ms Buchanan was named as one of the Australian Financial Review’s 100 Women of Influence and was awarded the B&T Women in Media Award for Mentoring. She inspires individuals and organisations to excel and is a passionate advocate for leadership and management excellence. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Riverside, USA, in political science with minors in journalism and ethnic studies and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Natasha Fenech currently serves as the Group CEO & Managing Director of Avant Mutual, a position held since September 2020 after joining as CEO of Medical Indemnity and Deputy Group CEO in 2019.
With 25+ years in financial services, Natasha has built a reputation for transformative leadership and strategic growth. As CEO of SuperConcepts, she successfully elevated the business from startup to market leader in self-managed superannuation administration. Previously at Suncorp, she held the role of Executive General Manager of Customer, Product and Pricing, managing portfolios across leading insurance brands including AAMI, APIA, and GIO. Her career encompasses senior positions at prestigious institutions including Citigroup, A.T. Kearney, Royal SunAlliance, Zurich, Legal & General, and SGIC.
Natasha holds an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management, along with Bachelor degrees in Economics and Mathematical Science, from the University of Adelaide. She is an Associate of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia and a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Assoc Prof Andrew C Miller AM joined the AMPCo Board in August 2024. He is also the current Chair of the AMA Board. In the past, he has served on the AMA-ACT board as Director, Treasurer and President; and on the AMA Federal Council, including as Chair. He continues to chair the Fees Committee. He was awarded Fellowship of the AMA in 2019.
Andrew is a Dermatologist in Canberra, where he is Department Head for the Department of Dermatology at Canberra Health Services, as well as working in private practice. He has had a long commitment to rural health, and conducts outreach clinics in Batemans Bay on the NSW South Coast, and at Young on the NSW South West Slopes. He is actively involved in undergraduate teaching at the Australian National University; and in prevocational teaching of JRMOs at Canberra Health Services. He is a Clinical Supervisor for the Australasian College of Dermatologists training programme. He is a past President of the ACD, and still serves on the Rural Services Committee amongst others.
Andrew is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and has a strong interest in governance and policy, as well as abiding interests in workforce planning and health financing.
Nicola brings over 30 years of leadership in the pharmaceutical and life sciences industry to the AMPCo Board, having held senior roles across multiple multinational pharmaceutical companies. Her career spans the full spectrum of commercial functions—including sales, marketing, and operations—equipping her with a broad and strategic perspective critical to advancing AMPCo's vision in alignment with the Australian Medical Association (AMA).
Currently serving as Director of Commercialisation, Access and Policy at Biointelect, Nicola advises across the life sciences sector on pathways for market access and strategic policy development. She is also actively engaged in public health governance through her roles on the Consumer Committees for Mona Vale Hospital and the NSW Health Single Digital Patient Record (SDPR) initiative, where she advocates for digital innovation and improved patient outcomes.
Nicola's extensive experience in government relations has been instrumental in shaping healthcare policy and securing PBS funding for innovative therapies, contributing to significant health gains for Australians. She holds a Bachelor of Science and is a Graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors (GAICD), underscoring her commitment to leadership and driving business performance.
With a deep passion for healthcare and a proven ability to connect diverse stakeholders across public, private, and non-profit sectors, Nicola brings a unique blend of industry insight and collaborative spirit to the AMPCo Board.
Dr Gary Speck joined the board of AMPCo in July 2018. Dr Speck is also a director of AMA Ltd and chairs the investment committee. He is a practising orthopaedic surgeon with appointments in a public hospital and a busy private practice, with active involvement in teaching at postgraduate level and is Deputy Chair of the R.A.C.S. medicolegal section. He has been active in professional associations with executive and leadership roles with the AMA, RACS, Australian Orthopaedic Association, Council of Procedural Specialists and the Spine Society of Australia. Dr Speck is a peer reviewer for SICOT(Societe Internationale de Chirurgie Orthoppedique et de Traumatologie) since 2007, and a regular contributor to international meetings. Dr Speck has undertaken regular and advanced courses with the AICD gaining a GAICD. From July 2016 he has chaired Medical Indemnity Protection Society (MIPS) and is a director of MIPS insurance Ltd. In 2012 he was a foundation member of the Health Innovation and Reform Council, Department of Health (Government of Victoria), 2012-2015; Chair of the Standing Committee on Health Quality, Safety and Outcomes, 2012-2015, advising David Davis the Health Minister and achieving changes in pay for performance and unplanned readmissions. Most recently he chaired a panel responsible for the introduction of a Victorian legislated new assessment system for traffic injury spinal impairment in 2016.
